Students are taught Nail Technician theory and practical applications throughout their entire education. There are two levels to the training: Junior level and Senior level.

A Junior level student is a student who is still within 150 clock-hours of their training. This student will work in the Junior theory class and the Junior lab. Students are given lectures, have written
assignments, projects, and tests. They participate in hands-on demonstrations and practice practical assignments on manikin hands and other students.

Once a Junior student has accumulated 150 hours and has satisfactorily passed a preliminary practical exam, the student is promoted to the Senior level. At this level students are assigned a manicuring station in the student salon. Once there, they are taught the skills necessary for performing all aspects of manicuring services on paying guests. Students who are performing services in the student salon are supervised by a licensed Cosmetology Instructor. Students at the senior level are taught more advanced practical techniques and theory concepts. Their education continues with lectures, demonstrations, and practical assignments on manikin hands and other students as well as paying guests of the student salon.
